Awesome journey through the history of prohibition. Lecture and memobilia. Really enjoyed the tasting event too! Highly recommend for a fun time!
Experience: The Barrel Pick Experience Guide: Willow M. TL;DR: The bourbon is amazing. Try to get Willow as your guide and book the Barrel Pick Experience. I almost started this review with one star because this experience might have ruined all future distillery tours and bourbon experiences for me. -The Experience- My brother and I booked The Barrel Pick Experience, and we ended up being the only two people on the tour. When we arrived, we called Willow to let us in. She asked if we wanted cocktails for the tour (not included in the experience—she told us beforehand—but who says no to an Old Fashioned?). The Old Fashioned was great. She started the tour by walking us through the distillery’s history (which is honestly pretty wild), the history of distilling in America, and the basics of the distillation process. Next, we moved to the barrel storage area where we sampled from five barrels: -two bourbons -one rye -two experimental casks. Willow had our Glencairn glasses (which you get to keep) ready for us, along with water for palate cleansing and extra water to rinse our glasses between tastings. Choosing was honestly painful because every barrel was excellent. The experience includes one bottle, and you can purchase additional bottles (either 200ml or 750ml) if you want. After we picked our bottle(s), we were able to thieve the bourbon ourselves. We then took the bottles upstairs where we dipped them in wax and stamped them. Very cool hands-on experience. The environment is small and comfortable. No other patrons were around during our tour, and the Master Distiller was working while we were tasting. The barrel storage area isn’t huge, but it’s impressive considering the quality of product they’re producing. -Willow- She was nothing but accommodating, respectful, funny, and extremely knowledgeable. The experience felt less like a formal tour and more like catching up with a friend over some incredible barrels of bourbon. -The Bourbon- Everyone has different palates and preferences, but I think I found my bourbon here. I prefer high-proof, barrel-strength bourbon because it’s easier for me to pick up flavor notes (my nose isn’t the best). The barrels we tried ranged from about 109 proof up to around 122 proof. All of them had minimal bite and tons of flavor. I can’t speak to their entire lineup, but the barrels we sampled were absolutely incredible. If you’ve read this far, I’ll mention that Willow let us try another barrel that I immediately wanted to buy four bottles of—but you’ll have to book the experience and taste it yourself because I’m absolutely gatekeeping that. -Overview- If you don’t book at least the Barrel Pick Experience, you’re missing out. The tour, the guide, and the overall experience felt intentional, personal, and genuinely fun. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll probably try some of the other experiences next time. Cheers, and thanks for everything!
Willow was great and they work d with me when I was running late. A really nice experience with very knowledgeable staff and great back room access. I will definitely be back!
We had the pleasure of doing a thieving experience tour with Bob. Bob was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and educational. We enjoyed all of the samples and even got to fill our own bottle straight from the barrel. We have been on many tastings and thieving experiences, and this was by far one of the best, if not the best. Make sure to stop in here when you are in Louisville.
We did the bottle experience with Willow and she was amazing. Fabulous place, bourbon and drinks.
What is the R Score? The R Score is Rviewo's weighted reputation score, not a simple average. It accounts for reviewer trust level (geolocation-verified reviewers carry more weight), review quality, recency decay, and volume confidence, so a business can't inflate its score with a handful of early reviews. As verified Rviewo reviews accumulate, the R Score converges toward the true picture. This business has no Rviewo reviews yet, so its score is derived from the Google rating shown above rather than from feedback we collected. How Rviewo reviews work →
